Note From Kevin (Minister of Music)
March is one of my favorite months. In March we have the first day of spring and spring can be exciting for so many different reasons. We look around us and see the budding trees and flowers that are so eager to blossom forth with bright brilliant colors. We have hope for the warmth that is not far down the road and everything seems to have new life that is just waiting to escape out into the world. So many times, we as humans linger on the negative things in life, the things in life that we regret or a dark period of our lives that we have all gone through, the “winters” of our life. Isaiah 43:19-19 says “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” The Bible clearly tells us in so many different passages to look toward the future and to make the best for our future. Our lives are short in comparison to eternity, so why waste it looking back on the “winters” of life? Look to the hope of the future, the brilliance of spring and the beauties of tomorrow.
Easter is right around the corner and the Lynn Garden Choir has started working on our Easter Cantata, “My Easter Story”. Throughout this cantata the arranger, Cliff Duren, has blended modern worship songs with wonderful traditional music. The choir is always looking for new members and now is a great time to come try it out. We normally rehearse Wednesdays at 7:00, but we will also be adding Sundays at 4:45 to prepare for this great cantata. Not only is the choir looking for singers, but also people with acting and skilled speaking abilities. I hope you will take the time to consider joining us!
The Lynn Garden Baptist music department is looking for vocalists and instrumentalists interested in helping lead worship and special music. The purpose of the worship team is to help teach and lead the congregation in worship music. We will have a large variety of music ranging from old southern gospel favorites to newer modern worship songs. The worship team is open for people of all ages that are willing to help serve. On Sunday March 17, immediately following the morning worship service, there will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in being involved. We will lay out a few goals as well as brainstorm together for ideas.
For any further information on either of these wonderful musical opportunities, please contact Kevin.
